Dr. Paul Johnson
Dr. Paul Johnson joined Bismarck Public Schools as superintendent in 2001. His previous work experience is as a principal in South St. Paul, Minnesota, a superintendent in Valley City, North Dakota, and a teacher in grades 1-8 in small communities in North and South Dakota. He is a native of Ray, North Dakota and has his BS degree in Elementary Education from Minot State. He also has a MS degree in Education Administration from Tri-College-NDSU and a Ph.D. in Education Administration from UND in Grand Forks. Paul is married to Teresa Monicken and has two children.
Dr. Johnson is the school district's educational leader and reports directly to the Bismarck School Board.

Dr. John M. Salwei
John Salwei is an Assistant Superintendent for Bismarck Public Schools. He has held this position since 1997. Prior to that time, Salwei was a principal at Williston and Linton. He has taught in North and South Dakota.
He grew up in Zeeland, North Dakota, and has a BS in Educational Technology and a MS degree in Secondary Administration from Northern State University in South Dakota. Salwei received his doctorate in 2006 from the University of North Dakota. John is married to Sheila and has two graduated children from public schools.
Salwei is Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Schools and oversees the following programs: Technology, Library Media, Activities, Curriculum, Instruction, Staff Development, Testing/Assessment, Entitlement Programs, and Adult Education.

Fran Rodenburg
Fran Rodenburg, former principal at Riverside Elementary School and Bismarck School District's Staff Development Coordinator, was promoted to Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Schools and Student Services in 2007.
Rodenburg has been a school district employee for 20 years as a special education teacher and elementary principal. BPS Superintendent Paul Johnson says, "Fran has consistently demonstrated a dedication to developing her own skills and abilities, as well as her talent for building relationships with staff and parents. Her leadership style will be a positive asset as the district confronts issues such as enrollment management, all-day, every-day kindergarten, and the adequate yearly academic progress of elementary students."
