Public meeting on bond plans for middle, high schools
Attend the last public info session to review proposed drawings to expand three middle schools and two senior highs in Bismarck Public Schools. The election date is Tuesday, March 7th and no mill increase is expected as the new bonds would replace the old ones coming off the tax rolls. The district will also apply for $15 million from the North Dakota school construction loan fund at a projected interest rate of 2%.
Horizon, Simle and Wachter Middle Schools need additions due to growing student enrollment. Century High School, the district's smallest school in size, will also need an addition and improvements to accommodate the large class sizes coming to CHS from Horizon Middle School. Bismarck High has adequate capacity, but also needs a theatre/auditorium and another gym floor. The meeting will be Tuesday, January 24, 7-8 pm, at Simle Middle School.
If you can't make the meeting, more information is posted at www.bismarckschools.org/district/growth.
